Luster Dust

Edible luster dust, as the very name implies, is a metallic color powder that is safe to consume. This is mainly used for decoration purpose in bakeries for cakes, candies, cupcakes and cookies. The FDA approved luster dust is available in red, bronze, golden, electric coral, greenish gold, coffee, yellow, copper, aster pink, dark magenta, purple, royal blue and many other shades. The dust can be applied on the icing or fondant using a brush to create glittery highlights. The edible luster dust can also be applied using airbrush and stencil. The dust can be applied dry as well as solution by blending with extracts, like lemon and ethanol-based.It is recommended to not to add water to the luster dust to create a blend as it is not soluble in water. In order to achieve an intense color, several coats of this decorative powder are applied. It is important to wait for every layer to dry.
